2020 has to have been the year of binge watching for like…. everyone. So instead of a “best of” list I thought I’d do mini reviews on all the shows I watched this year. Mostly, I enjoyed rewatching shows because I enjoy them or in order to finish out the end seasons I’d missed. Volume Balance But first a quick rant. There are several shows not on the list because I couldn’t handle watching them. The volume balance is just so bad–with loud sound effects and music and quiet dialog. What’s the point of watching a show if you can […]
Category: Annual Best TV List
2017 was all about Netflix and on demand. Binge watching series I started live to see how they ended up. Catching new shows for something fresh and dynamic. I have to say, though, the binge watches far outweigh anything new. Because there aren’t that many shows on now that I really love. And because something that is a bit of a hybrid – familiar but also new and different – will probably always be my favorite. I just can’t put Once Upon a Time on the list. I will give them credit for an incredibly innovative reboot. But the new […]
This is perhaps the longest into a new year I’ve waited to post my tv list. The problem was, is, whatever, that I’m not excited about it. Which is more about the tv shows than about the list itself (we all know I think lists are fun). I sorted through my hulu favorites, as I do each year, and couldn’t convince myself there were 10 shows that good in 2014. And I don’t know if this is a reflection of the state of tv shows or the fact that I’m watching fewer shows so, statistically it’s going to be more […]
A friend asked me this year what my New Years tv marathon would be. I hadn’t really found a good one yet, because I feel like I’ve already seen everything I like. Quite a few times. I’d just finished s5 of Merlin which has been my favorite holiday indulgence for a while so there wasn’t anything left but to put them all on a list and move into the new year. Which is when she suggested Arn: The Knight Templar. It is officially the honorary mention this year. In part because it’s only 6 episodes so it is more of […]
You all know I love talking about tv and trying to convince friends that some previously undiscovered show is secretly brilliant. But this year the tide turned and at least a handful of shows are on the list because someone else convinced me they were worth watching.
Normally I can’t wait to post my annual best tv list. After crossing the threshold with a tv marathon on New Year’s Eve (this year it was White Collar) it’s one of my favorite things to do.
It’s my favorite post of the year! It feels a bit different this year, because I pretty much watched everything on hulu. So, no show had a place in my week or a home on my tv. It was all
I’ve acquiesced to the fact that this is more “tv I loved in 2009” than actually “the best tv of 2009”. But what critic’s list isn’t? You never read, “I hated this show, but damn was it well
I’ve been waiting to write this list for months. It’s one of my favorite blogs all year because I love the excuse opportunity to talk about tv.
Before I begin
