Iron Man 2

IRON MAN 2 poster Robert Downey Jr

Rating: 2.75 of 5 ★★¾☆☆

This was obviously a sequel that was rushed through production. And the disheartening thing is it doesn’t seem liked execs paid attention to what really made Iron Man so successful.

There’s more action and less story. Which is a sign of a rushed script. And the idea that execs think people want more Iron Man than they want Tony Stark, which I don’t think is the case.

I also didn’t like the representation of women with Pepper being incredibly snippy (and annoying) and she needs help with her stunts. And Black Widow was such a shallow character played by Scarlett Johansson and I can’t stand her. I genuinely don’t like to speak ill of people, but she can’t act and she’s not as gorgeous and so many people seem to think she is and I love that the introduced a female super hero and that she’s all lithe and bad ass and then it’s all undercut because it’s Scarlett Johansson. She’s probably a really nice person and if I ever met her in real life I’d probably feel really bad for disliking her so much as an actress. Kind of like Jessica Biehl.

And also, I can’t stand Mickey Rourke. I don’t feel bad at all for disliking him. The Performance score should be much lower just because of the awful casting, but Robert Downey Jr. is just too good to bring it very far down. His 4 performance offsets the .5 casting and 1 performances pretty significantly.

I know a lot of people were disappointed after how great the first one was. Which actually worked in my favor because it wasn’t as awful as I expected after hearing everyone complain.
