Cars 2 is another of those animated movies that’s so hard to score. I mean, it’s cute and sweet for kids.

I didn’t hate it. But I can’t really score the directing or production very well because they were good enough.

But there also wasn’t anything remarkable about this film. It wasn’t especially funny or touching or anything else. It was all just good enough.

Except for the places where it wasn’t. I wasn’t as amused by Mader in this one as I was in the last. I thought his character was pushed over the edge of quirky into ridiculous. And I didn’t buy the whole conclusion as the end where Lightning was apologizing to him for not being a good friend when Mader was totally oblivious and Lightning’s reaction, while not great, wasn’t that out of line.

Still, it’s a good kids movie, which is all it’s trying to be.
