Passengers

Rating: 3.5 of 5

I’ve been interested in seeing Passengers since I first saw the trailer. Shiny sci-fi with a bit of romance, a bit of fun and a bit of danger. Even a mystery to unravel. Plus a chance for two endearing actors to prove themselves in a starring vehicle.

The Lucky One

Rating: 2.5 of 5

I’ve never watched a movie as piecemeal as The Lucky One. There isn’t really an entire scene in the whole movie. It’s 2 lines of dialog and moving on. A nice shot of someone running or walking, moving on. Three lines of dialog… I’m not even exaggerating. I think there were maybe . . . → more

Crazy, Stupid, Love

Rating: 3.75 of 5

This movie wasn’t really what I expected. From the preview I expected a little funny and more sex than there actually was. But it was *really* funny, much funnier than anything I’ve seen in a long time. And not a contrived sort of funny, just a really natural kind of funny.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1

I am definitely in the minority, and I realize that. Breaking Dawn is on track to make $140M this weekend (proving the power of women at the box office when they’re captivated). Many . . . → more

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse

I think, though still flawed, Eclipse is the best of the Twilight films thus far. Before I even begin I should say that it’s my favorite book. I like how romantic it is and I like Jacob and Edward talking in the tent and the whole little kerfuffle . . . → more

Sydney White

This wasn’t quite as sweet and cute and charming as I’d hoped. Not sure why. I think some things that were intended to be funny or cute just sort of fell flat. . . . → more

Becoming Jane

I haven’t read a whole lot of Jane Austen. Honestly, just Pride and Prejudice after I saw the Kiera Knightley movie. So, I could see elements of that story in this film – and was told there were also elements of Sense and Sensibility and Persuasion. Which, when rendering an author’s life into a story itself makes sense and is fun if . . . → more
