Avengers: Infinity War

When Marvel filmed Avengers: Infinity War, they had no way of knowing how successful Black Panther would be. They probably guessed it would be successful enough. Because all of the Marvel movies have been. But 3rd highest domestic gross and and 5th biggest opening weekend. Beyond the money, it was a cultural phenomena that made so many different people feel their voice heard in new and undeniable ways. It also inspired Disney to share a little bit of the wealth to support youth STEM programs. Which means they will unequivocally make a sequel. They did know, when filming Infinity War, […]

Dr. Strange
Posted November 5, 2016 : Benedict Cumberbatch, Review

tldr: It’s Inception meets The Matrix in super hero form. Which, how has no one done Inception meets The Matrix before? They fit too perfectly together. While I knew a bit about Dr. Strange going in, like the character’s name and his look and that he messed with reality, I didn’t really know his history or the mythology around him. So, it was quite refreshing to not know what was coming for this character as the story progressed. And it progressed a bit slowly. A bit of too close detail on medical tools in the beginning. A bit of meandering […]

best tv of 2014
Posted January 22, 2015 : Annual Best TV List, Benedict Cumberbatch

This is perhaps the longest into a new year I’ve waited to post my tv list. The problem was, is, whatever, that I’m not excited about it. Which is more about the tv shows than about the list itself (we all know I think lists are fun). I sorted through my hulu favorites, as I do each year, and couldn’t convince myself there were 10 shows that good in 2014. And I don’t know if this is a reflection of the state of tv shows or the fact that I’m watching fewer shows so, statistically it’s going to be more […]

Benedict Cumberbatch Amid Awards Season Crush
Posted December 24, 2014 : Benedict Cumberbatch

Benedict Cumberbatch is concerned that the world might be growing tired of him. Though the actor, who shot to fame as the titular character on the BBC series Sherlock, has long had a rabid and vocal fanbase, he is rapidly emerging as a leading man. His star turn in last year’s The Fifth Estate badly stumbled, but he more than compensated with wildly different roles in August: Osage County and 12 Years a Slave. And now he’s tipped for his first Oscar nomination, playing World War II codebreaker Alan Turing in the just-released drama The Imitation Game. Cumberbatch, making a […]

100 hot guys – 2014
Posted December 10, 2014 : Annual Hot Guys List, Benedict Cumberbatch

So, I didn’t quite manage a wildly interesting post between the hottest movie guys and the hottest tv guys of the year. But, you’re not really complaining about a flood of hot guys, are you? Yeah, didn’t think so. Therefore, I present to you my annual adaptation of Buddy TV’s annual list of TVs 100 sexiest men. With commentary. And better pictures. And fewer advertisements. But also fewer men, so, you know, pick your poison. I do have to give them credit, though. They did a great job of mixing it up with some new faces from new tv shows. […]

50 hot guys – 2014

The movie list is clearly late this year. I’ll have to think of something wildly interesting to post between this list and the tv list or my blog will have become just hot guys and then more hot guys. One of the great things about the movie list is that it offers variety. Except for pilots and new series, the tv list is a lot of the same guys a lot of the time. But sometimes even our favorites aren’t in a movie every year so the list gets mixed up. Kel let me pick all the pictures this year […]
