This movie wasn’t really what I expected. From the preview I expected a little funny and more sex than there actually was. But it was *really* funny, much funnier than anything I’ve seen in a long time. And not a contrived sort of funny, just a really natural kind of funny. I like Steve Carell when he’s not trying to be funny and in this he was a really understandable, normal guy. Gladiator is more interesting now then it ever was when I first saw it in May of 2000. Because now I have the context of Ridley Scott’s later films (Kingdom of Heaven and Robin Hood) so it’s fascinating to see him working out a particular aspect of his world view.

Hey, this is Einstein. I guess he’s part cocker spaniel or something. I got him out of a shelter about a year and a half ago.
